Magnetic Separation Systems

Aquafine is a world wide representative for the Wang NMR Inc. line of magnetic separation systems. High fields, active shielding, and radial flow canister design combine to provide a robust, lightweight, and reliable unit with high throughputs and low operating costs.

These separators are based on a 6 Tesla superconducting solenoid magnet and are shielded either actively or with iron to eliminate stray fields.

Inside the high field region of the magnet, an efficient radial flow canister packed with a replaceable stainless steel wool matrix is installed. The slurry is directed into the system and flows radially from the outside to take advantage of the large surface area of the matrix. The slurry, cleaned of magnetic impurities, passes out through the center of the matrix. At the end of the feed cycle, the canister is either removed from the field or the field deenergized and automatically backwashed to flush the magnetic particles from the matrix.

These systems are offered in a variety of configurations. Some of the options are listed as follows:

  • Reciprocating systems ranging from 15 cm to 1 meter diameters (5-6 Tesla)
  • Cyclic systems ranging from 75 cm to 2 meter diameters (up to 3 Tesla)
  • Retrofit coils for existing resistive systems
  • Laboratory systems ranging from 5 to 12.5 cm diameter (5-9 Tesla)

For more information regarding these systems, please visit the Wang NMR Inc. web site.
